Miami Law Mindfulness in Law Program

Mindfulness and Wellness Resources United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida Summer Internship

On this page you will find a sampling of mindfulness and wellness resources to accompany the June 8th "Let's Talk About Wellness" webinar led by Judge Beth Bloom, with panelists: former and past presidents of The Florida Bar, Dori Morales and Michael Higer, cognitive neuroscientist, Amishi Jha, law professor Scott Rogers, and Judge Chris McAliley.

There are many resources available and these are intended to provide you with a starting point, drawing on the work of those who presented, along with noted local and national resources.

Some of Judge McAliley's Favorite Resources

Teachers:

Tara Brach. She offers many free guided meditations on her website www.tarabrach.com. Also look at her books; she is a wonderful writer.

Anything from Pema Chodron. Start at pemachodron.org.

Podcasts:

Dan Harris’ Ten Percent Happier podcast. Each episode is an interview of a guest and includes some short guided meditations by some of those guests. He also offers a wonderful app, by the same name.
Apps:

Insight Timer. A free app with access to many teachings and guided practices. Current favorite: Hugh Byrne. (You will recognize these poems in his guided practices that include poetry).

Sam Harris’ Waking Up App. A somewhat different “non-dualist” approach. He offers a free trial, but then it becomes a paid subscription.

Dan Harris' 10% Happier App. It allows a free trial, then requires a subscription.
